LIM PEI ERN born and raise from Sabah, Borneo pursued and graduated with (BA) in Dance in Singapore. Pei Ern danced for international and national companies like Odyssey Dance Co., John Mead Dance Co. T.H.E Dance Co. and DPAC Dance Co. before working independently in 2017.

Artist Biography

Pei Ern is a Sabah-born native girl. She has completed Advanced II in RAD Ballet, and represented Malaysian Sport Games, SUKMA 2006 in Rhythmic Gymnastics. Pei Ern studied and graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with First Class Honour (BA) in Dance.
Since then, was invited to dance for Odyssey Dance Theatre in 2012 and exposed to international choreographers Wu Yi San (Taiwan/Hong Kong), Akiko Kitamura (Japan), Marie Gabrielle Rotie (United Kingdom), Inma Marin (Spain), Ben J Riepe (Germany) as well as Singapore choreographers Melissa Quek, Susan Yeung and Albert Tiong. In 2015, Pei Ern performed for John Mead Dance Company and taken in as an apprentice for 2nd Company with T.H.E Dance Company Singapore. In Malaysia, she presented Tari Festival 2014 and in 2015. Added to that, she was honoured to be able to dance and work with late choreographer, Janis Claxton from Edinburgh. Pei Ern worked as Full-time Professional Dancer with artistic director, Wong Jyh Shyong in DPAC Dance Company, Kuala Lumpur since 2015. Together with the Company, she performed for the 5th Edition Interface Kolkata, Sibu International Dance Festival, D’Motion and DPAC Arts Festival.
Pei Ern is also exposed to Theatre Performing Art. In 2015, she was funded and given scholarship to IUGTE’15 to Italy where she attended workshops and worked with different art disciplinarians. 2016, she worked with Ben J.Riepe from Germany whose work focussed on visual and performing arts.
July 2018, she performed with theatre and stage director, Carlos Garcia Estevez founder of Manifesto Poetico for ‘Pulse’ in DPAC KL.
Beginning of 2017, Pei Ern started to work independently as a Full-time Dance Artist where she performed and danced for German choreographer, Paula Rosolen in Paris Theater de Ville and Japan artist, Un Yamada for ‘People Without Season’. Her new work, You/Me with actor Thomas Pang was featured in Singapore. Pei Ern produced her own work ‘Nyanyian Bumi’ in collaboration with Japanese and Indonesian artists and re-worked ‘Singularity’ for Kyoto Experimental Festival 2018. Then, ‘Ayun to the Right’ was designed for Goyang Karawang International Dance Festival Sept’19 where she was invited to choreograph and performed. Her most recent work ‘HUMEL’ was showcased for DanceBox Dec’19 .
In 2019, she was asked to dance for Dancing in Place by MyDance Alliance, and DanceBox with a piece created by a legend choreographer Suhaimi Maigi. Pei Ern is also invited to choreograph and perform ‘Primates in origin’ for RAINFOREST Fringe Festival in Kuching, Sarawak where she collaborated with Orang-orang Drums Theater for her piece, and ”Anti-thesis’ in collaboration with A’shua Imran (A.D of Mural Lingo from Singapore) and local dancers for GEORGETOWN Festival’ 2019. She was asked to dance in MixBILL with Kenny and Mobius Dance Co (UK)., also for Meraki Cia from Spain during their residency project in KL Malaysia August’2019.
